short story about myself…
Industrial designer, systems thinker, and technical innovator at heart, I recently served as Head of Design & UX at Element Science, a Google Ventures-backed medical technology startup, where I led strategic design initiatives and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams for over 11 years.
As a founding member, I helped define the vision for a new generation of wearable medical devices, contributing to multiple funding rounds while guiding product development from early concepts through commercialization. During my tenure, I shaped the company's product ecosystem, interaction models, system architecture, and brand evolution, helping bring an adhesive-based Class III wearable defibrillator from investigational development to an award-winning commercial product.
Leveraging empathy, user insight, and systems thinking, I create distinctive product experiences that translate complex technologies into intuitive, meaningful solutions. Working across consumer electronics, medical devices, wearables, mobility, and emerging technologies has given me the ability to quickly understand new markets, adapt to diverse industries, and balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives while developing cohesive product languages that strengthen both products and brands.
Before Element Science, I held leadership and principal design roles at internationally recognized consultancies including Smart Design (US) and NPK Design (NL). Those experiences shaped my belief in leading by example, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, and balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution. While I enjoy solving technically complex design challenges, my greatest passion lies in defining product vision, shaping brand identity through products, and creating experiences that make technology feel intuitive, trusted, and emotionally engaging.
Growing up internationally as an expatriate profoundly influenced how I view design and human behavior. Experiencing different cultures taught me to understand people, products, and systems from multiple perspectives - an approach that continues to shape my work today.
We're living through one of the most exciting periods in product design, where advances in AI, robotics, and connected technologies are fundamentally changing how people interact with the world around them. I'm inspired by the opportunity to help define these emerging experiences, creating thoughtful, enduring products that deliver meaningful value while positively impacting people's lives.
